Here is Another reason to NEVER GIVE UP
Did you hear the story of recent Olympic hopeful runner Walter Dix?
Walter was a winner of a bronze medal in the 200 meter race. How he got his medal is an absolutely classic story. One that reminds us again to try our best, and always finish through the end.
The interesting story is that Dix actually placed a distant 5th, but never quit. So…. How did he medal?
Well first there was a Disqualification of the 3rd place finisher, a fellow American teammate. The supposed bronze medalist had stepped on the line and out of the boundary. Next, would you believe there was a disqualification on the 4th place runner as well. This in turn moved mr. Dix from 5th to 3rd Place and subsequently into medal history.
The amazing thing is Dix could clearly see he was way out of it for 1st through 4th places. This begs the question…what motivated him to keep doing his best, and still out-finish the 6th, 7th 8th and 9th place runners?
That is a question only Mr Dix and his big desirous heart can answer. Another question he’ll enjoy answering is when his kids and grandkids ask him to share the story about how Mr Dix captured the Bronze medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics.
As the famous Winston Churchill once said… “Never , Never, Never give up”
